MIDDLETOWN – Systems Engineering Associates Corp. on Wednesday announced it has received a three-year, $30 million contract to support the Electromagnetic Department of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport.
Middletown-based Sea Corp. received the award from the Naval Sea Systems Command, according to a press release.
Sea Corp. is the lead contractor on the project and will oversee nine subcontractors that will provide support services in a variety of different areas from design, development and evaluation to troubleshooting, testing and support of prototypes.
The company says receiving the award signifies a “key feat in the increasingly competitive local business market.”
“This contract represents our continuing efforts to provide technical expertise to the Navy in support of the development of systems that help ensure the superiority of our naval forces,” said Larry L. Willner, Sea Corp. president, in a statement. “This contract will allow us to help the Navy quickly respond to the current needs of our forces and also help develop Electromagnetic Systems for the future.”
Sea Corp. is a locally owned Rhode Island business founded in 1981. Originally in Newport, the company is now headquartered in Middletown’s Aquidneck Corporate Park and it reports that it employs about 350 professionals.
Senior Vice President David A. Lussier in a statement said the award is significant for the advancement of electronic surveillance systems for submarines.
“Sea Corp. has been an integral part of [this] through prior and existing support contracts to NUWC,” he said.

Subcontractors will be:

  • Booz Allen Hamilton Inc.
  • Cydecor Inc.
  • General Dynamics Information Technology Inc.
  • Progeny Systems Corp.
  • Rite-Solutions Inc.
  • SAIC Inc.
  • Sonalysts Inc.
  • Tele-Consultants Inc.
  • TRH Technologies Inc.

The contract follows a previous three-year, $86 million contract that Sea Corp. received in 2012 that also was in support of NUWC’s Electromagnetic Department.
