TAUNTON – The South Eastern Economic Development Corp. has named a Bristol County Savings Bank assistant vice president “Banker of the Year.”
SEED, a regional nonprofit economic development corporation, chose Tim Chaves, assistant vice president of commercial lending at Bristol County Savings Bank, out of a pool of 21 candidates, according to a press release. Criteria to qualify for the accolade was based on the volume of loans made in participation with SEED, and for “exemplifying the spirit of small business assistance,” according to the release.
“Tim is always enthusiastic about working with new and existing clients to find the best financing package to meet their needs,” said Len Sullivan, first executive vice president and senior loan officer at the bank. “This often requires participating with the Small Business Administration through the SEED Corporation.”
SEED is certified by the U.S. Small Business Administration, a federal agency created to assistant small bankers throughout the country. The nonprofit focuses on financing small businesses in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. SEED made the most SBA micro loans in Rhode Island last fiscal year with seven totaling $265,000.
Chaves, who works in Pawtucket at the 215 Armistice Blvd. branch, is responsible for developing new business, selling the bank’s products and services, and assisting in the management of its commercial loan portfolio, according to the bank.
“Tim was thrilled to not only be recognized by SEED, but to also be able to provide financing to many small business through SEED’s innovative loan products,” Sullivan added.
