SENEDIA announces STEM scholarship winners

MIDDLETOWN – Six local students preparing to enter STEM fields – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics – received $500 scholarships from the Southeastern New England Defense Industry Alliance at its annual meeting last week.
They are:

  • Arianna Abram, Boston University
  • Hanna Desilets, University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth
  • Nathan Lambert, Cornell University
  • Sydney Pazera, University of Colorado at Boulder
  • Gilbert Resto, University of Rhode Island
  • Frank Zingarelli, University of Rhode Island

“Building the pipeline of students entering STEM fields ranks among the top priorities of SENEDIA as an organization and the industry at large,” Molly Magee, SENEDIA’s executive director, said in a statement. “SENEDIA is proud to support each of these impressive young individuals as they prepare for challenging, fulfilling and critically important STEM careers.”

To meet minimum eligibility requirements, students must be a permanent resident of the Southeastern New England area (Connecticut, Massachusetts or Rhode Island); enrolled at an accredited college or university located in United States; and focusing their studies in a STEM-related area.

“As part of the application process, they describe their plans to use their STEM degree to be part of the Southeastern New England workforce upon graduation. SENEDIA strongly supports building the pipeline of future STEM workers,” Molly Donohue Magee, executive director, SENEDIA, wrote in an email.
