CRANSTON – Saccoccio & Associates Inc. architects has acquired the architecture division of the national engineering company, CDR Maguire, and plans to add staff as it takes on additional projects.
The two-person architecture staff of CDR Maguire will remain based at the engineering company’s Milton, Mass., location. Saccoccio will add one to two new staff members in both the Cranston and Milton offices, and at other CDR Maguire locations as needed, according to principals Mark Saccoccio and Steve Guglielmo.
The acquisition will allow the Cranston-based architecture company to align with CDR Maguire, which was founded in Providence in 1938, but is now based in Doral, Fla. Among its projects, CDR Maguire was the lead consultant and program manager for the relocation of the Interstate 195 bridge in Providence.
“This acquisition expands our footprint and gives us an opportunity to grow,” said Saccoccio, in a news release. “This partnership will give our architects a chance to work on some very exciting projects around the country.”
Saccoccio & Associates, a second-generation architecture company, has a specialty in institutional and public safety projects. As part of the transition, which began in January when the company assumed CDR Maguire’s architecture portfolio, Saccoccio took over CDR Maguire projects for a fire station in Brewster, Mass., as well as a fire station and police station in Millis, Mass.
Since its founding in 1973, the company has completed designs for notable schools, commercial sites and public buildings, including the North Kingstown High School, the Meeting Street School, Ballentine Hall at University of Rhode Island and police stations in Cranston and Smithfield.
The company is among the 10 largest architecture firms in Rhode Island, and employed six architects among a staff of 11 in 2015, according to the Providence Business News Book of Lists.
