Ferry Orthodontics recently hosted its first scavenger hunt throughout South County, raising more than $13,000 for Easter Seals Rhode Island.
More than 40 teams deciphered clues and searched for items throughout South Kingstown and Narragansett during the event. At the end of the hunt, participants gathered at Matunuck Community Association for a post-hunt celebration.
Many local businesses participated in the hunt as a sponsor or as a stop along the route, including; Ferry Orthodontics, South County Commons, Dennis Moffit Painting, Denali Wakefield, Arnold Lumber, Clean Rite, Threadz, Kohl’s, and Brickley’s Ice Cream.
“We’ve incorporated a lot of local businesses and families,” said Michael Ferry of Ferry Orthodontics. “The businesses have been fantastic. The outpouring of generosity has blown us away. This is what it is about – local families and local businesses giving back to families that need help. It has really been amazing.”
The top three teams in the event were Right Click, University of Rhode Island’s Rotaract Club and Arnold Lumber. The Mews Tavern team, dressed as “Duck Dynasty,” won best-themed team. •
