Schilling auctioning off personal belongings

Former Boston Red Sox pitcher and 38 Studios owner Curt Schilling was planning to sell off furniture, sports collectibles and even artificial plants from his Massachusetts home, The Associated Press reported last week.
Schilling, whose video game company collapsed into bankruptcy in 2012, enlisted Consignworks Inc.’s services to sell the items, which include sofas, porch rockers, candlesticks, a baby grand piano, a punching bag, a baseball-glove chair and a vintage Coca-Cola vending machine, the AP said. The company planned the sale for Oct. 12.
An auction of the contents of 38 Studios’ Providence office was held last year.
Schilling is among those being sued by the R.I. Economic Development Corporation over the collapse of 38 Studios. EDC’s board in 2010 approved a $75 million loan guarantee for the company to lure it to Providence from Massachusetts. •
