ANDOVER – Schneider Electric, parent of West Kingston-based APC by Schneider Electric, will soon move its headquarters operation from Illinois to Massachusetts, the Boston Business Journal reported Wednesday.
The Journal first reported Schneider’s plan to move to Andover, Mass., in December 2012. The deal features Schneider signing a lease for 230,000 square feet of space at 800 Federal St., which is owned by Leggat McCall.
The Boston Globe also reported on Wednesday that Schneider’s previous plan to move its research and development operations to the facilities were altered to include its senior executives as well. The Globe reported that approximately 750 will work out of the headquarters.
In December 2012, Leggat McCall’s Bill Gause told the Boston Business Journal that Schneider’s engineering and manufacturing company would take over approximately 160,000 square feet at 800 Federal St. that had been vacant for nearly seven years.
Leggat also said it would build out another 75,000 square feet of space to support affiliated Schneider operations, including some of its offices in Rhode Island.
Attempts to immediately reach Schneider Electric for comment were unsuccessful.
