WEST KINGTON – Schneider Electric announced Tuesday that it acquired the intellectual property and software for a platform that measures power consumption.
“The acquisition will merge Viridity’s unique IT discovery and method of measuring server power consumption with Schneider Electric’s data center software to deliver best-in-class asset tracking, capacity planning and energy visualization for superior energy management,” Schneider said.
Schneider did not disclose how much it paid for the Viridity EnergyCenter 2.0 platform; it said it was taking on the technology assets of the Burlington, Mass.-based startup, which includes “some” of the technology team but did not say how many people would be coming on or where they would work.
Schneider said the investment will “augment” its StruxureWare for Data Center Operations DCIM (data center infrastructure management) suite, which allows facility managers to have “complete visibility and control over their data center’s daily operations.”
