Schwartz Center plans fishing for a cause

NEW BEDFORD – The Schwartz Center for Children of Dartmouth will host its fourth annual “Fishing For A Cause” recreational fishing tournament on June 20 and 21.
The two-day charity tournament builds up to an awards dinner on Saturday night under a tent at Pope’s Island Marina.
Fishing grounds encompass Cape Cod Bay to Block Island and beyond. In this tournament, striped bass, bluefish, and fluke catch-and-release anglers depart from and return to their home port. Anglers can register their own boat at $250 per angler, or organize a team for an all-inclusive fishing charter with entry fees starting at $1,500 per charter.
Tournament prizes include custom glass trophies and a combination of cash and prizes totaling over $5,000.
Tickets for the awards Seaside Dinner on June 21—complimentary to registered anglers—can be purchased separately at $100 per person. The Seaside Dinner is catered by Pepper’s Fine Catering, with live swing music provided by the eleven time Grammy nominees Bellevue Cadillac band.
The boat registration deadline is June 2. To register or for more information, visit fishing4acause.org or call 508-996-3391, ext. 427.
Sponsors for the event include Clarke Distribution Corporation, Seastreak, and Greenberg Traurig, LLP. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. For details, call 508-996-3391 x425.
The Schwartz Center is a nonprofit that provides critical services for children with special developmental and medical needs throughout southeastern Massachusetts.
