Score: Small business optimism on the rise across U.S.

WASHINGTON – Score, the U.S. Small Business Administration-sponsored organization that connects successful business executives with small businesses that they mentor, has released its most recent Current State of Small Business infographic.
The graphic combs multiple sources to get a read on sentiment as well as facts about the small business environment across the country. The release of the graphic last week highlighted small business optimism’s gains over the last five quarters, with overall optimism climbing from 16 percent of those surveyed in the second quarter of 2013 to 47 percent in the 2014 second quarter. At the same time, 37 percent of respondents said that business prospects were excellent, with 45 percent saying there were good.
Additional topics included in the graphic include data about women-owned businesses, small business loans and the percentage of Score clients who are women (56 percent in 2013), minorities (28 percent), and veterans (12 percent).
Score is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2014, and has mentored more than 10 million entrepreneurs in that time through its network of chapters, up to 320 at the present time.
