ScoutReach gets boost from Mechanics Cooperative Bank

Mechanics Cooperative Bank recently donated $5,000 to The Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America, to help the organization expand its ScoutReach program.

ScoutReach serves to motivate and inspire scouts to follow Scout virtues, achieve higher academic success, avoid harmful influences and establish leadership skills. Youths involved in the program meet regularly to participate in community service projects and other enrichment activities.

The council will use the funds to move the program into the Fall River community.

“The Boy Scouts organization has long been a crucial resource for the youth of the city of Fall River,” said Joseph T. Baptista Jr., bank president and CEO.

Baptista added that Mechanics Cooperative understands the opportunities Scouting can provide to disadvantaged youth.

Narragansett Council Scout Executive/CEO, John H. Mosby, said the council is thankful for the bank’s contributions.

“Without the financial support and the commitment of Mechanics Cooperative Bank, we could not expand this much-needed program into the Fall River community,” he said.
