ShapeUp program focus on weight loss, diabetes

PROVIDENCE – ShapeUp, a global provider of social networking and incentive-based wellness plans, recently launched an online weight-loss and diabetes-prevention program.
Known as Empower, the program combines weight-loss strategies with ShapeUp’s proprietary social networking technology to encourage behavior change in a sustainable way.
Empower promotes a two-phased approach to sustainable weight loss. In the first, a 12-week intervention phase, participants work towards initial weight-loss goals with daily structure and support. This phase leverages engaging video content focused on exercise, nutrition, and problem-solving guidance, along with self-monitoring strategies, automated and personalized feedback, game mechanics and social support.
The second phase of the program, called Thrive, is focused on maintenance, runs for the remainder of the year, and helps participants sustain their behavior change over time.
By making wellness fun, social and rewarding, ShapeUp’s online wellness programs strive to drive high engagement rates and healthy behavior change across diverse populations. •
