Fall River Mayor William A. Flanagan recently sent a letter to New England Revolution owner Robert Kraft, inviting him to tour the city as he searches for a new home for the soccer team. According to numerous media reports, Flanagan cited the city’s soccer culture and highway access as major selling points in its favor.
Other Massachusetts communities, including Revere, have also expressed interest in becoming the new home of the Revolution, if Kraft decides to leave Foxboro.
But what about Rhode Island? The state has many of the same selling points as Fall River and certainly could use the jobs, both temporary during construction of a new stadium and permanent ones when it is in use.
Should Rhode Island shoot to host the team or would the state be out of its league trying to host another professional sports team?
