PROVIDENCE – Funeral services for the late James J. Skeffington, a principal owner of the Pawtucket Red Sox, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Providence, according to a notice provided by a team spokeswoman. The wake will be from 3-7 p.m. Friday at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul as well.

Skeffington, a partner in the Locke Lord LLP firm, died on Sunday. He played leadership roles in notable developments in Rhode Island, including the expansion of Women and Infants Hospital, and development of the Convention Center and Providence Place mall. His most recent effort was the plan to move the PawSox, the AAA baseball team for the Boston Red Sox, from McCoy Stadium to a new facility in downtown Providence.
