Skyline wedding venue to open at former Waterplace Restaurant

PROVIDENCE – A substantial renovation is underway at city-owned property at Waterplace Park, where a new indoor-outdoor wedding venue will be operated as Skyline at Waterplace.
Skyline at Waterplace LLC is leasing the property from the city, having successfully bid under a public process. It is investing about $1 million into renovations, which began in late May.
The corporation, which was created in March, lists Michael Mota of Lincoln as registered agent and manager, along with David Pontarelli, of Cranston, who also will serve as manager. Mota is CEO of Atom Media Group.
The venue replaces the now defunct Waterplace Restaurant.
Skyline at Waterplace will be a multilevel event venue with panache, according to a description provided by ATOM Media Group.
The ground-level floor will accommodate small cocktail parties, up to 225 people for seated wedding receptions.
The details will include crystal chandeliers, high ceilings, carved pillars and art deco finishes.
The second floor will accommodate up to 170 people for seated lunch, brunch or dinners, or 250 for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. It will be marketed to nonprofit galas, weddings, and birthday and special occasion events.
Three outdoor spaces will also be a part of the venue, on completion.
The sales director is Scott Connery, who is joining culinary partner Russell Morin Fine Catering in planning for events.
