Sonic plans expansion? into Rhode Island

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sonic Drive-In – a fast-food chain with locations primarily in Southern and Central regions of the United States – announced this month that it has reached two new agreements for franchises in Rhode Island.

According to a news release, the first new Sonic franchisee will open the state’s first location in Providence by mid-2015, with plans to bring two new drive-ins to Rhode Island in the coming years. The second new franchisee is planning to bring two drive-ins to the state in the next few years. The company did not disclose exact locations.

Rhode Island will be the 45th state with Sonic locations.

Looking to further growth in the Northeast, Sonic development executives will be in Boston for Franchise Discovery meetings. The company will also be participate in the New England Food Show March 15-17 in Boston.
