Speaker Fox’s office, house raided by police

PROVIDENCE – State and federal law enforcement officials were seen entering the office and home of R.I. House Speaker Gordon D. Fox, according to WJAR-TV NBC 10, among other news outlets.

According to Channel 10, the U.S. Attorney’s office was executing a search warrant involving the FBI, the Internal Revenue Service and the R.I. State Police.

Larry Berman, spokesman for Fox, D-Providence, was not immediately available for comment.

“Our office, the FBI, R.I. State Police and the IRS have a joint law enforcement investigation underway. As part of that two federal search warrants are being executed today,” Jim Martin, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, told Providence Business News on Friday. He declined further comment.
