There were 125 golfers who attended the 23rd annual Moby Dick Scouting Golf Classic, hosted by the Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America at the Montaup Country Club in Portsmouth on July 14.
St. Anne’s Credit Union was the title sponsor this year. The organization has been a longtime supporter of the Boy Scouts of America and retired CEO Jack Ledwidge is the founder of the tournament.
“Many of the golfers that support this event year after year know the true value the scouting programs can have on today’s youth, many of whom were scouts themselves,” said John Mosby, scout executive/CEO of the Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America.
Additional sponsors included AAA of Southern New England and Roberts Caroll Feldstein & Peirce.
The proceeds from the tournament support programs for more than 12,000 boys (ages 6-21) and girls (ages 14-21) across Rhode Island, southeastern Massachusetts and Pawcatuck, Conn. •
