St. Anne’s gives Boys & Girls Club $15K

FALL RIVER – The Friends of St. Anne’s, now operating as a separate nonprofit organization since St. Anne’s Hospital merger with Steward Health Care, has awarded the Boys & Girls Club of Fall River $15,000 for its ONE Campaign annual fund.
The ONE campaign supports the Boys & Girls Club academic success programs including the Stay in School initiative, Power Hour homework help and tutoring, Science Club and Reading Club, as well as helps fund the organization’s leadership programs. The campaign has a goal of raising $75,000 by the end of 2012. The fund is $35,000 short of that goal.
The Friends of St. Anne’s is donating the funds through the gift shop it owns and operates through volunteers.
“The [Boys & Girls] Club is honored to receive this first donation from the Friends of St. Anne’s,” said Peter McCarthy, executive director, in a statement. “The ONE campaign is essential to our ability to stay open as long as possible, keep our staff to member ratios low, and continue to develop new programs for our children.”
