PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island resubmitted its request to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on July 10 to extend its current waiver for another five years, until Dec. 31, 2018, according to state officials.
The state had first submitted its waiver extension request on March 12, but CMS had rejected the waiver application, taking issue with the state’s initial outreach efforts to seek public comment on the waiver request.
With the new submission, the state is conducting a new round of three public hearings to solicit comments:
The new submission projects a 2.3 percent trend increases in expenses, rising to $2.08 billion in 2018, with a projected enrollment of 206,107, and a per member per month cost of $846.
The new submission also includes additional information about budget neutrality and evaluation plans, and enhanced public notice about hearings, which were requested by CMS.
