Statewide health-needs assessment goes online

CRANSTON – A statewide community health-needs assessment database will be available online in the spring of 2013, the Hospital Association of Rhode Island announced recently.
The project, being conducted by Holleran Consulting under the guidance of HARI, seeks to quantify, community by community, the health needs of residents. The initiative’s goal is to translate the trends identified by the research into improved strategies to better meet the needs of residents and improve health outcomes.
In addition, HARI will establish an online portal of health indicators and data for Rhode Island as part of a new website being launched by the Healthy Communities Institute. Rhode Island will be the fifth state in the nation to offer such a statewide community-health website.
The new website will highlight the hospitals’ commitment to public health by tracking statewide improvement and showcasing best practices, according to HARI. •
