Steven J. Maurano has been named assistant vice president and head of the Office of Public Affairs and Community Relations at Providence College. He served for nearly five years as associate commissioner with the R.I. Board of Governors for Higher Education. Maurano also worked for 22 years for public-relations firm Duffy & Shanley. He has a B.A. in English from Providence College and an M.S. in public relations from Boston University. •
