Posted 9/17/12

PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island Business Group on Health’s annual summit, to be held on Sept. 21, will examine the way that patient-centered medical homes are changing the model of the health care delivery system, with a focus on engaging Rhode Island employers with local success stories. The summit will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Providence Marriott.

One of the panels will feature representatives from Rhode Island’s three major health insurers – Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island, UnitedHealthcare of New England and Tufts Health Plan – discussing the ways in which the insurers are supporting patient-centered medical homes.

The lunchtime keynote speaker will be R.I. Health Insurance Commissioner Christopher F, Koller, who will discuss recent research on the benefits of including patient-centered medical homes in provider networks and how businesses can encourage such practices to be part of their plan. •
