Swansea run raises funds for MS group

The Swansea Thanksgiving 5K Run and 3K Walk raised more than $3,000 for the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, Total Fitness Clubs has announced.
The race was held at the club here on Thanksgiving Day 2014, and 100 percent of the proceeds have been donated to the association, the firm said.
More than 130 runners and walkers participated in the race, which aims to help keep people active over the Thanksgiving holiday, raise awareness about multiple sclerosis and help fund better treatment alternatives.
Multiple sclerosis is a genetic disease that causes the body to attack its own nervous system, leading to symptoms ranging from numbness to loss of sight, or even to complete paralysis. Advancements in treatment have enabled most sufferers to live a normal life.
Total Fitness Clubs, headquartered in Swansea, offers a network of gyms in Bristol, as well as Swansea, Seekonk and Dartmouth.
