T.F. Green passenger traffic up in Nov., but cargo numbers fall

WARWICK – Passenger traffic at T.F. Green Airport rose 2.4 percent in November compared with the same period last year, up to 295,452 total passengers from 288,537 passengers in November 2012, according to numbers released by the R.I. Airport Corporation Tuesday.

The airport’s year-to-date passenger traffic also saw an increase over 2012. T.F. Green’s 3.5 million passengers in the first 11 months of 2013 constituted a 4.1 percent jump from the 2012 figure of 3.4 million.

Despite the rise in passenger traffic, T.F. Green saw a year-to-year decline in total cargo enplaned and deplaned. In November, the airport transported roughly 2.2 million pounds of cargo, a 5.7 percent decrease compared with 2.3 million pounds in November 2012. Year-to-date cargo tonnage, however, increased 9.7 percent in the first 11 months of 2013 compared with the same period last year.

The five airlines with the greatest share of T.F. Green’s passenger traffic in November were Southwest Airlines, at 44.3 percent; US Airways, at 23.8 percent; Delta Airlines, at 12.5 percent; United Airlines, at 12.2 percent; and JetBlue Airways, at 6.3 percent.
