T.F. Green posts 1.6% August passenger gain

WARWICK – Passenger traffic at T.F. Green Airport increased 1.6 percent, to 337,336, in August over a year ago, according to the R.I. Airport Corp. With that gain, total passenger traffic at the state’s only commercial airport has increased 2.7 percent through the first eight months of the year, to 2,428,374.

Of the five major domestic carriers, only American Airlines showed an increase in passenger traffic – by 17.7 percent to 87,279 – although the recent merger with U.S. Airways makes year-over-year comparisons difficult. Delta Airlines showed an 11.7 percent decline for the month to 40,453; Jet Blue Airways registered a 0.05 percent decline to 24,158; Southwest Airlines saw a 0.8 percent decline to 143,179, and United Airlines traffic fell 2.8 percent to 32,787. •
