PROVIDENCE – Bringing Broadway to the Providence Performing Arts Center will continue through the 2016-17 season thanks to a new multiyear sponsorship by the Taco/White Family Foundation.
The foundation will continue to sponsor PPAC’s Broadway Series, which it has done since the 2012-13 season, according to J.L. “Lynn” Singleton, PPAC president, and John Hazen White Jr., president and CEO of Taco Inc.
The value of the sponsorship was not disclosed.
Singleton said the continued commitment from the foundation “has heightened our ability to present ‘Broadway’s Best,’ including the launch of six national tours since 2012, right here in Rhode Island.”
Upcoming shows for 2014-15 include “Cinderella,” (Oct. 10-18); “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” (Nov. 4-9); “Camelot” (Dec. 9-14); “I Love Lucy Live on Stage,” (Feb. 24-March 1, 2015); “Dirty Dancing,” (April 21–26, 2015) and “Kinky Boots,” (June 9–14, 2015). A seventh show is also planned but has not yet been announced.
“We have enjoyed our partnership with PPAC, and everyone at Taco is looking forward to the next three seasons with them,” White said. “PPAC has done a great job of bringing top-notch theatrical entertainment to Rhode Island, and we are pleased to play a role in that.”
Sponsoring the series matches the foundation’s “core values,” said Thomas J. Farrell, foundation president, “that is, supporting a nonprofit organization that serves significant social goals in Rhode Island.”
Founded in 1920 and headquartered in Cranston, Taco Inc. produces heating and cooling equipment for residential and commercial building use. The foundation was founded by the White family in 2000 to fund grants for community-based nonprofits in Rhode Island. Funding for the work of the foundation comes from Taco company profits.
