CRANSTON – Climate control equipment maker Taco Inc. has entered into a partnership with an Italian pump manufacturer to collaborate on product research and development.
Pump technology from Askoll, of Dueville, Italy, is already used in a Taco circulator and in the future the entire unit will be made at Taco’s Cranston plant, according to a Wednesday news release announcing the partnership.
Long term, the partnership will involve the two companies collaborating on new pump designs and joint product marketing initiatives.
“Taco’s path for future growth lies in strategic relationships with world-class companies like Askoll,” said Taco President and CEO John Hazen White Jr. in the news release. “We have [long] searched the world for the best suppliers of castings and raw materials for our products, and now we are doing the same for the best and brightest technology partners. We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial working relationship with Askoll.”
The announcement about the partnership was made Thursday morning at Taco on Cranston Street. Taco officials were joined at the event by Askoll owner Elio Marioni; the Italian counsul general for New England, Nicola De Santis; and Marcel Valois, executive director of the R.I. Commerce Corporation.
Askoll, according to its website, designs, manufactures and sells drain pumps and electrical motors for white goods appliances, aquariums and accessories and pumps for heating systems.
