Tassoni, House of Hope sponsor drive

SMITHFIELD – Sen. John J. Tassoni Jr., D-Smithfield, and the House of Hope CDC, a Warwick nonprofit that buys, builds, renovates or manages 18 properties for homeless adults and families with children, will sponsor a clothing drive to benefit residents of Harrington Hall in Cranston on Oct. 20.
Harrington Hall is the largest men’s emergency shelter in Rhode Island and a House of Hope managed property.
“Especially with the colder months approaching, we need to make sure that these men who find themselves in needs of temporary, emergency shelter also have clothing, one of life’s other basic needs,” Tassoni said in a news release.
Donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of Executive Auto Sales on George Washington Highway. Several Smithfield area businesses have pledged contributions of cash and clothing.
The hall is in need of pants, shirts, jackets and socks. Those who wish to make a donation but do not have used clothing to donate may make a financial contribution by check.
