Tax division accepting returns

PROVIDENCE – The R.I. Division of Taxation is accepting business tax returns for the tax year 2013, according to an announcement from the agency. The forms being accepted are Form RI-1120C for businesses organized as C corporations, Form RI-1120S for businesses organized as subchapter S corporations and Form RI-1065 for limited liability companies, limited partnerships, limited liability partnerships, general partnerships and single-member limited liability companies.
The state’s e-file mandate that went into effect Jan. 1, 2013 is being enforced, Rhode Island Tax Administrator David M. Sullivan said in an advisory from the agency. That mandate generally applies to returns filed on Form RI-1120C, Form 1120S and From RI-0165 by paid preparers.
Sullivan urged taxpayers to file electronically, which he said is more efficient, results in fewer errors and generates a refund more quickly. Most state tax forms are available on the R.I. Division of Taxation website at www.tax.ri.gov/taxforms/.
