DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. – Kathie Shields, executive director of the Tech Collective, has been named a director of the Technology Councils of North America along with two other new board members, TECNA announced last week.
TECNA represents more than 50 IT and technology trade organizations who, in turn, represent more than 22,000 technology-related companies in North America. The group serves its members and the industry through a peer-to-peer network and regional initiatives to raise the visibility of the technology industry.
The three new board appointees – who also include Avvey Peters of Communitech in Canada’s Waterloo region and Brooks Raiford of the North Carolina Technology Association – join nine other executives on the TECNA board of directors. Shields will serve as TECNA’s new secretary and treasurer, the group said in a release.
In addition, existing board member Skip Newberry, who currently serves as president of the Technology Association of Oregon, will assume a position as a vice chair of the TECNA board.
“We’re pleased to welcome these industry leaders to the TECNA board of directors,” said Bob Moore, executive director of TECNA. “Their collective leadership abilities and contributions will serve as a blueprint as we further our strategic objectives that benefit the entire technology ecosystem.”
TECNA’s 13-member board works to promote public policies and economic issues to advance the technology industry, the group said. The board also plans peer-to-peer networking events across North America and collects feedback from TECNA members to share with lawmakers.
