PROVIDENCE – Tech Collective, the state’s information technology and bioscience-industry association, is offering five scholarships totaling $7,000. The scholarships are funded by two businesses and a fund to assist students looking to enter the IT field.
Lincoln-based Lighthouse Computer Services has established two $1,000 scholarships open to Rhode Island high school students or post-secondary students pursuing an IT career who also have been members of the military or are children of military personnel.
Fibertech Networks, a Rochester, N.Y.-based provider of fiber-optic networks, has established a $3,000 scholarship for a female Rhode Island high school student planning to pursue a degree in an IT field.
Also, the Doug Schwinn Scholarship Fund established $1,000 scholarships for two female or minority high school students pursuing a degree in IT.
The Tech Collective will administer the scholarships. Applications must be received by March 2010. Visit www.tech-collective.org for information and applications. •
