PROVIDENCE – Textron Inc.’s Ottawa, Ontario-based Textron Systems Canada Inc., landed a $205 million CAD contract with the Canadian Forces.
The deal is for work to be performed by Rheimetall Canada Inc. on the Canadian Forces Tactical Armored Patrol Vehicle project.
Rheimetall Canada will earn $152 million CAD during the TAPV program’s producting phase for critical engineering and production work at its Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu facility in Quebec.
The contract includes $53 million CAD Rheinmetall Canada will earn developing integrated logistics support products as well as serving as the primary in-service support hub for the fleet during its service life.
During the fleet’s production, Rheinmetall will perform the final assembly and test of the vehicles and will also be responsible for integrating essential sub-systems including remotely controlled weapon station, the vehicle navigation system and the driver vision enhancement system.
The contract’s production phase is expected to span from July 2014 to March 2016.

Textron employs more than 2,200 Canadians at its Textron Systems, Bell Helicopter and Kautex facilities in Canada and the company has procured roughly $450 million CAD in materials over the past year from Canadian supplier companies.
