BOSTON – Fulflex Inc., which is owned by The Moore Co., a Providence-based elastics and plastics company, will pay almost $200,000 to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for Clean Air Act violations at its Brattleboro, Vt.-based facility.

Fulflex, which manufactures and distributes natural and synthetic rubber and plastic, is slated to pay $198,500 for violating a “number of conditions” of the air permit issued to the company by the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation, according to an EPA release.

The EPA’s complaint alleged that the Fulflex facility violated the permit through improper operation and maintenance of its emissions control system, record keeping, as well as an emission limitation established by the permit for particulate matter.

According to the EPA, the complaint also stated that the facility violated federal regulations that encourage the recapture and recycling of ozone-depleting refrigerants during service, maintenance and repair of covered appliances.

The Fulflex facility has since come into compliance with the requirements of its permit and has taken steps to reduce its use of chlorofluorocarbons, according to the EPA release.

Fulfex parent, The Moore Co., owns subsidiaries around the world.
