ThinkSpace set for Children’s Museum

PROVIDENCE – ThinkSpace, a new exhibit exploring spatial thinking that will encourage children to explore and experiment with shape and space through hands-on play and learning experiences, will open Nov. 10 at Providence Children’s Museum.

ThinkSpace will offer visitors the opportunity to, among other features, experiment with shadows and scale to transform 3-D objects into 2-D representations and creative shadow scenes, to construct domino chain reactions, and to create intricate kaleidoscopic designs by layering, ordering and rotating colorful cutout shapes in various combinations.

The museum said the exhibit will promote spatial thinking, which, it said, is a problem-solving tool key to developing children’s interest and success in the STEM [science, technology, engineering, and math] disciplines.

The exhibit, which will feature an opening celebration through Monday, Nov. 12, is supported by lead sponsor National Grid with additional support from June Rockwell Levy Foundation.
