Thurlow gets awards for Pawtucket work

PAWTUCKET – Thurlow Small Architecture Inc. has received three awards for its Pawtucket Downtown Design Plan.
The Pawtucket plan received the 2011 award for urban planning from the American Institute of Architects Rhode Island Chapter this month.
Then L+A Landscape Architecture, which was part of the Thurlow Small team for the Pawtucket plan, won an honor award from the American Society of Landscape Architects in their 2011 awards ceremony.
Rounding out the triple, the plan also picked up an award for Outstanding Comprehensive Planning from the American Planning Association’s Rhode Island Chapter.
Thurlow Small worked on the Downtown Pawtucket plan from June 2010 to April 2011 for the city and Pawtucket Foundation.
“Recognition by the AIA, the APA, and the ASLA demonstrates the success of our multidisciplinary approach to the Pawtucket Downtown Design Plan,” said Thomas Mann, executive director of the Pawtucket Foundation in a statement about the awards. “These awards further exemplify a culture of excellence in urban design and community planning in Pawtucket.”
