Top 15 cities for couples, Providence not included

PROVIDENCE – Providence didn’t make the cut in a national survey of the best cities for couples, but neither did Boston.
Rent.com, in collaboration with real estate data company Onboard Informatics, ranked the upscale Newton, Mass., in the top spot, followed by Staten Island, N.Y.; Edison, N.J.; Fremont, Calif.; and Arlington Heights, Ill.

8. Irvine, Calif.
9. San Mateo, Calif.
10. Bellevue, Wash.
11. Woodbridge, N.J.
12. Columbia, Md.
13. Newport Beach, Calif.
14. Farmington Hills, Mich.
15. Torrance, Calif.
Newton was ranked No. 1 for features including number of amusement options (242) and number of parks (61), along with median rent for a one-bedroom apartment, $2,818; median household income, $169,186; married couples, 55 percent; and divorced or separated, 8 percent.
The Boston Business Journal questioned the choice of Newton over Boston, noting Boston’s seaport district, numerous restaurants, parks, museums and waterfront.
