PROVIDENCE – Stories about lawsuits, free Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, cybersecurity and the Pawtucket Red Sox were among the most-read news stories on PBN.com in 2015, according to Google Analytics.

The top story, published May 28, was “Summer Infant sues former CEO and execs, alleges trade secret theft”. The story detailed how the baby and juvenile product maker sued former CEO Carol Bramson and several other executives, alleging that they stole trade secrets. The company said they were caught “red-handed” by writing about their plans to create a competing company.

The second most-read story was “A Patriots win perk for Dunkin’ Donuts Perks members: Free coffee”, published Sept. 16. The title says it all.
Coming in third was “Internet censorship in schools threatens education”, published March 13, 2013. The story cited a report from the state’s chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union that said Internet censorship is prevalent in Rhode Island public schools and damaging to the educational environment.

Fourth place went to “Former executive files lawsuit against Alex and Ani”, published June 17. Michael Mota, a former executive at Seven Swords Media, a subsidiary of Alex and Ani, filed a lawsuit against the jewelry company and Seven Swords Media LLC alleging sexual discrimination, false imprisonment, creating a hostile work environment and emotional distress.
Fifth place was held by “Can Rhode Island find niche in cybersecurity?”, which was published March 28.
The Pawtucket Red Sox grabbed the sixth spot with “PawSox owners present vision for new city stadium, $12.3M in economic impacts expected”. The April 15 story detailed the proposed plan to build a new ballpark in downtown Providence at a riverfront site in the former Interstate 195 land. However, that idea that was later shot down by the governor.

Also generating significant Web traffic were PBN-sponsored events and awards and the stories about them. “PBN names 2015 Best Places to Work,” published May 12, topped that list. The 55 companies recognized were judged based on confidential surveys of employees and management reports.
Another PBN event, “PBN names 40 Under Forty,” published June 19, had the second-most page views for PBN event items on the site.
