Toray announces new plastic lidding film for dairy foods

PROVIDENCE – Toray Plastics (America) Inc. has developed a new easy-to-peel film called LumiLid XL7W, the company said last week.

The white PET lidding film was developed for use with refrigerated and frozen dairy foods that are packaged in polypropylene containers, such as cottage cheese, sour cream, yogurt, butter, ricotta cheese, refrigerated processed cheeses and cheese spreads and ice cream.

XL7W is also suited for non-dairy spreads, such as margarine and others that are plant-based, as well as non-dairy frozen foods and desserts, such as those made with soy, almond and coconut milks, the manufacturer said.

The XL7W seal is strong enough to protect product freshness, while providing a quick and clean peel to reduce shredding.

Toray Plastics (America) Inc. makes polyester, polypropylene, bio-based and metallized films for flexible and rigid packaging, lidding, graphic, industrial, optical and electronic applications.
