Tour to focus on Warren’s work

NEW BEDFORD – A walking tour of downtown New Bedford will focus on the work of Russell Warren, a renowned architect of the 19th century.
His work in Rhode Island includes Linden Place Mansion in Bristol and the Providence Arcade. His architecture in New Bedford will be showcased in a walking tour led by David Harrington, who has recently begun a community-based research project on Warren’s works and history.
In anticipation of the walking tour, Harrington will host a pre-tour lecture on Warren in the parlor of Linden Place Mansion. The lecture is free for Linden Place members and $5 for the general public.
The New Bedford walking tour will begin at the National Park Headquarters at 10 a.m., Sept. 19 and will continue along streets where many Warren-designed homes still stand. The tour will include the Rodman and Grinnell mansions. The tour is $15 for Linden Place members and $20 for the general public.
Advanced registration is required. Call the Linden Museum offices at 401-253-0390 or email info@lindenplace.org.
