MIDDLETOWN – Towerstream Corp. provided high-speed wireless broadband connectivity at the 48th annual Head of the Charles Regatta – the world’s largest rowing event – on Oct. 20-21.
According to the event’s Executive Director Fred Schoch, the Head of the Charles Regatta attracts more than 300,000 spectators and hosts 9,000 athletes participating in 55 race events.
“Because of the size and scale of our event, we really have to rely on a powerful and responsive internet connection. Partnering with Towerstream to ensure seamless connectivity was an easy choice for us,” said Schoch, adding: “The Regatta is a world class event, and we need an internet connection delivering on that standard.”
Towerstream provided wireless broadband connectivity to Regatta operations staff to support the event’s race-timing system. The connectivity allowed the system not only to rack each split station time and supply accurate results, but it was also used by participants to measure outcomes, organize award presentations and communicate effectively along the three mile course, according to the company.
In addition to race personnel and participants, sponsors and vendors used Towerstream’s connectivity for promotions and sales opportunities.
