General Treasurer Gina M. Raimondo today announced that Treasury's Smart Money Tour will continue in 2014 and that organizations will have the opportunity to request the Smart Money team.

"The Smart Money Tour has been successful in conveniently bringing Treasury's services to the community," Raimondo said. "As my team continues these outreach efforts to serve all Rhode Islanders, we are adding the option for community groups to directly request the team for their events."

Treasury's Smart Money Tour visited more than 20 locations over the last year, including farmers markets, senior centers and shopping malls. To request a Smart Money stop at your event or location, click here to view the request form or visit treasury.ri.gov/SmartMoney.

At each stop, Raimondo's team will set up a table and take questions on the following programs:

• Empower RI: An initiative designed to highlight the importance of understanding how to make your money work through personal financial empowerment. Components include:

o Earned Income Tax Credit Program & Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

o Financial Coaching Corps

o Collegeboundfund

o EverFi

o Payday Lending Reform

• Unclaimed Property: Rhode Island has more than $275 million in Unclaimed Property. Attendees may search for their unclaimed property on-site as Treasury is committed to getting this money back into the hands of hardworking Rhode Islanders.

• Investments and Finance: Treasury is dedicated to providing easy and transparent access to Rhode Island's financial reports, investment performance, and other related data.

• Crime Victims Compensation Fund: This program helps those who have suffered from a violent crime.

Smart Money 2014 Tour stops will be announced soon.

Smart Money Tour questions may be directed to Treasury's Outreach Director, Heather Hudson at 401-222-2397.
