Twin River to go live with table games in June

LINCOLN – Twin River Casino will officially open table games to the public on June 19, 12 days ahead of the original July 1 opening date, the casino confirmed Thursday.

Twin River’s confirmation came on the heels of an announcement from the R.I. Division of Lotteries, which announced the new opening date for the casino’s table games.

Calling the move a “milestone” in the casino’s history, Twin River will mark the inclusion of table games with formal ribbon cutting ceremonies at the entrance to the table games' first-floor space beginning at 10:30 a.m. on the 19th.

The ceremony will be followed by a brief blackjack tournament among “invited dignitaries,” who will play for a charity of their choice. Twin River intends to donate $20,000 to six Rhode Island charities designated by the winning players.

“We’re thrilled to open table games sooner than expected and it is a true reflection of the incredible level of cooperation we have received from our regulators, town officials, unions, Twin River staff and our construction team from Gilbane Building Co.,” said Twin River Chairman John E. Taylor Jr.

“We’ve spent considerable time hiring and training our workforce to well prepare for this new chapter in our history, and we are anxious to unveil this new product to the public,” added Taylor

Part of that training, according to Taylor, has been opening the table games with a series of brief, invitation-only sessions for small groups of players between June 14 and 19.

The table games will fully open to the general public immediately following the June 19 ribbon-cutting ceremonies.

According to its website, current plans for Twin River include 64 tables with a gaming mix of blackjack, roulette, craps, mini-baccarat and a variety of poker-based games.
