NEWPORT – Two city homes have sold for a combined $7.3 million, Lila Delman Real Estate and Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty have announced.
One of the properties, a 6,100-square-foot Greek revival house known as “Swinburne” sold for $2.77 million.
Located on Pelham Street in the Historic Hill neighborhood, Swinburne was originally owned by a former Mayor William Swinburne and includes a guest quarters above a two-car garage in addition to the main house.
The house, built in 1860, was originally listed for $3.59 million.
“The buyer was attracted to the home’s quiet elegance and its convenient location close to
downtown Newport and the harbor, Bellevue Avenue and Broadway,” said the selling agent, Jay Serzan of Gustave White Sotheby’s International.
The second property, a shingle-style house, is located on the waterfront on Brenton Road near Ocean Avenue and sold for $4,550,000.
Like Swinburne, it as listed by Lila Delman Real Estate.
Including the Brenton house, there have been 11 home sales in Newport County of more than $3 million this year.
