Two R.I. companies among Inc.’s top 100 fastest growing

NEW YORK – Two Rhode Island-based companies made the top 100 in Inc. Magazine’s annual ranking of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the country, released Tuesday.

All told, 16 Rhode Island companies made the list.

Warwick-based Yagoozon, an online costume and party accessory retailer, placed 11th on the list with 16,689 percent growth over three years. Founded in 2008, the company has added 14 of its 15 employees in the last three years and drew $18.6 million in revenue in 2012, compared with $111,000 in 2009.

Alex and Ani came in at No. 95 on the Inc. 5,000, posting three-year growth of 3,569 percent. The Cranston-based jewelry and lifestyle brand brought in $79.8 million in 2012, compared with $2.2 million in 2009, and hired 597 of its 613 employees in the last three years. The company was founded in 2003.

This was the first year either company cracked the top 100.

The other Rhode Island companies on the list were Seven Swords Media (a subsidiary of Alex and Ani), at No. 388; MojoTech, at No. 529, Drupal Connect, at No. 603, Astonish Results, at No. 758, American Partners, at No. 1,074, Gurnet Consulting, at No. 1,436, ADI Energy, at No. 1,531, Alliance Security, at No. 1,595, Preventure, at No. 1,775, Bridge Technical Talent, at No. 2,358, Narrangansett Brewing, at No. 2,437, Carousel Industries, at No. 3,036, (Add)ventures, at No. 3,179 and Embrace Home Loans, at No. 3,429.

The No. 1 fastest-growing company on the Inc. 5,000 list was Fuhu, which makes a children’s tablet computer and software to make computers kid-friendly, with 42,148 percent growth over three years.
