PROVIDENCE – Two people are in custody following a shooting Monday downtown at noon.
Police told WPRI-TV CBS 12 that a 22-year-old Pawtucket man was shot as he left Superior Court. He was driving away from the court when he was shot by two men, the station said.

“After a description was aired of the suspect vehicle, police pursued the vehicle until it was stopped near Jefferson Boulevard in Warwick, near Route 95,” a Providence Police Department press release said.

The release said two occupants of the vehicle were taken into police custody for questioning and have not been charged at this time.

The victim, Matthew DePina, is in serious condition, police said, adding the investigation is ongoing.
