Two new advisers appointed to UMD Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship

FALL RIVER – The executive director of Cherrystone Angel Group and director of engineering for Whirlpool Corp. have been appointed to the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth’s Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship’s new advisory board.

Jennifer Schwall Rousseau is Cherrystone’s executive director, and Craig Costa is Whirlpool’s director of engineering.

“Jennifer and Craig embody the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation and bring a tremendous amount of expertise, energy and talent to the CIE’s advisory board,” UMass Dartmouth Acting Chancellor Gerry Kavanaugh said in a statement.
Rousseau, who manages operations at Cherrystone, has experience in screening deals, determining valuation models and conducting market research for industries including pharmaceutical, medical devices, software, hardware and Internet/mobile applications. She also advises portfolio companies about fundraising strategies and works with CEOs to keep investors updated.
She graduated summa cum laude from Bryant University with a bachelor’s in finance and a minor in legal studies.
Costa, who works in Whirlpool’s laundry division, is responsible for engineering resources in Fall River and Benton Harbor, Mich. He graduated from UMass Dartmouth with an electrical engineering degree, and has an MBA from the Charlton College of Business at the UMass Dartmouth.
The UMass Dartmouth Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship is an incubator that offers prototype development, laboratory facilities, conference rooms, office space and technical assistance.
