PROVIDENCE – Citizens Financial Group Inc. on Tuesday named John Tyers the new president of Citizens private bank effective immediately.
Citizens private bank is the company’s wealth management division, serving high-net worth customers. The position was previously held by Timothy Swanson, who told Providence Business News on Wednesday he resigned in April to pursue professional options nearer to home in Detroit.
Tyers joins the bank from Lombard International with 20 years of experience in wealth and investment managing. He previously held leadership roles at firms including Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Bear Stearns, Credit Suisse First Boston and Charles Schwab, according to a press release. He’s now responsible for investment, fiduciary and advisory services for high-net worth customers at Citizens.
“As we continue to accelerate the growth of our wealth management businesses, our high net worth families and clients will benefit from John’s extensive knowledge,” said John Bahnken, president of Citizens wealth management. “John has a strong record of building high-performing businesses and we are delighted to have him lead this important business for Citizens.”
Citizens, with $140.1 billion in assets, is the largest Rhode Island-based bank.
