UMass Dartmouth CIE bringing innovation to India through partnership

FALL RIVER – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is partnering with Batoi Systems Pvt. Ltd. in Bhubaneswar, India, and its sister company, BCube Analytics, located at the CIE, to share research and product prototyping capabilities with India’s universities and commercial enterprises.
The partnership also will generate revenue to support the CIE’s regional business incubation efforts, according to a news release. Its main focus will be in energy, health care, the environment and smart governance.

“We envision a partnership that will build a commerce bridge from the SouthCoast to India, one of the world’s largest democracies and fastest growing innovation economies,” CIE Director Tobias Stapleton said in a statement. “This association will usher in a new era of collaboration between Indian companies and academic institutions and the resources of Batoi, BCube and the CIE.”
The CIE is the leading hub for technological innovation and research, serving more than 20 startup companies on site; it also offers business development services to startups in the SouthCoast region. It will provide the Indian market with cutting-edge programs that will serve to advance the development of critically needed technologies and services, the release said.

Batoi Systems CEO and Founder Director Ashwini Rath will expand the economic links between the U.S. and India.

“Batoi, with its product suites and solutions for education and research, will maximize these opportunities and create new initiatives to bridge the gaps in much-needed skills and capabilities at the institutions and commercial entities in India,” Rath said.

Batoi and BCube will work with CIE staff to create skill-oriented certificate programs in conjunction with the center that will focus on entrepreneurship, modern technology and innovation, and allow entrepreneurs in India to interact with innovators and scholars at the CIE, as well as provide on-site opportunities at the CIE.
