UMass Dartmouth joins ?car-sharing network

DARTMOUTH – University of Massachusetts Dartmouth is the latest college campus to offer Zipcars.
UMass Dartmouth Chancellor Jean F. MacCormack announced the partnership on Feb.1. “This … will provide a cost-effective transportation solution for students, staff, and faculty while also demonstrating our commitment to sustainability.”
Cambridge, Mass.-based Zipcar, Inc., operates the world’s leading car-sharing network, according to the school’s news release.
Other schools that have Zipcars include the University of Massachusetts Boston, Bridgewater State University, Roger Williams University, and Providence and Stonehill colleges. In all, 250 colleges use Zipcar, according to The Herald News in Fall River.
This year, UMass Dartmouth members can join Zipcar for $25, with rates on campus Zipcar vehicles starting as low as $7 per hour and $66 per day. &#8226
